    Environmental Risk Factors and Iowa’s Cancer Crisis Harkin Institute & Iowa Environmental Council Kerri Johannsen is the Senior Director of Policy and Programs with the Iowa Environmental Council, providing strategic oversight and advocacy strategy across the Council’s Energy, Climate Initiatives, and Water Programs. She has two decades of experience in energy and environmental policy and has previously served as the Council’s Energy Program Director as well as Manager of Government Affairs. Kerri previously served as professional staff with the U.S. Senate Agriculture Committee, administered the Iowa Power Fund for innovative clean energy projects, and worked as an analyst and Legislative Liaison with the Iowa Utilities Commission before joining the Council in 2016. Kerri was a visiting researcher with the Florence School of Regulation in Florence, Italy, in the summer of 2024. She has a B.A. from Gustavus Adolphus College and a Master’s in Public Policy from the Humphrey Institute at the University of Minnesota.     History of Wakonda Club & PCC Aaron Krueger is in his sixteenth season at Wakonda Club in 2026.  He was named General Manager of Wakonda Club in March.  Aaron is originally from Fulton, Illinois and is a graduate of the University of Iowa, where he competed on the men’s golf team.  He became a Class A PGA Member in 2007 and has been the host PGA Professional for the Principal Charity Classic every year it has been held at Wakonda Club, since 2013.  Aaron served as the President of the Iowa PGA in 2017-2019 and was the 2008 & 2013 Iowa PGA Section Champion.  He was recognized as the 2017 Iowa PGA Golf Professional of the Year and the 2019 Iowa Golf Association PGA Professional of the Year. He has competed in the 2019 and 2014 John Deere Classic on the PGA Tour and in a major championship, the 2014 PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club.  Aaron is a member of the PGA of America’s national Board of Directors and will chair the PGA Tournaments and Member Championships Committee.  Aaron and his wife Tonya live in Norwalk.     Blank Park Zoo President/CEO Anne Shimerdla and her team have committed to a Behind the Scenes Tour for DMAM Members on June 17 at 4:00 p.m. followed immediately by VIP early entrance to Zoo Brew at 5:30 p.m. Tour participants are expected to attend Zoo Brew. Behind the Scenes Tour Arrival: Discovery Center no later than 3:50 p.m. Time: 4:00 p.m. sharp. Adults only. Closed-toe shoes required. Weather: Tour may be rescheduled for severe weather. RSVP deadline: Tuesday, June 9, by noon to [email protected]. Tour highlights include the Eastern black rhino barn, giraffe barn at feeding time, coral conservation, and Blanding’s turtle conservation. The Zoo has generously waived the regular $150 per person tour fee.     Join us! Club volunteers are needed every third Friday following the regular Rotary meeting to make sandwiches for The Connection Cafe.
