Club Service
To ensure Friday meetings are welcoming to all who attend and are run efficiently, the members of this committee welcome Rotarians to meetings, register guests and visiting Rotarians, among other activities.
Community Service
This committee is dedicated to supporting the Rotary pledge of “Service Above Self” through active involvement and financial support of local community projects. Two long-term community Projects are making and serving meals at the Connection Café and our work with Capital View Elementary School. We are actively involved in leveraging Rotary International and Rotary District grants that are of benefit to our community.
International Service
The International Committee has the purpose of positively impacting the lives of others in less fortunate parts of the globe. We have a major initiative in Uganda, and work with Meals from the Heartland in an annual packaging event. We are actively involved in leveraging Rotary International grants to benefit these projects.
Marketing & Public Image Committees
The Marketing Committee works in tandem with the Public Image Committee to share Rotary Club of Des Moines AM’s story to help grow and retain membership, the DMAM’s Foundation, enhance member value, and raise awareness of Rotary initiatives and contributions with internal and external audiences. Members who want to get involved with this committee may work on brand compliance, media relations, content development, or digital marketing, as an example.
Member Relations
The Member Relations committee is a busy group. They actively plan and coordinate a variety of networking activities for members. Just a few of our current activities include happy hours, a retirement discussion group, and many other special activities.
Membership
The focus of our Membership Committee is member recruitment and engagement, striving for long-term Rotary satisfaction and involvement.
New Member Orientation
The New Member Orientation Committee provides valuable information as the first step in members’ Rotary journey. This committee coordinates the orientation of new members into the Rotary Club of Des Moines AM and regularly holds in-person meetings for new members and existing members who want to learn more.
Next Generation
The Next Generation Committee is focused on engaging the next generation of Rotary Club members at younger ages. We sponsor an Interact Club (ages 12-18) at Roosevelt High School, as well as welcome opportunities to interact with Rotaract (age 18+) members as they develop their leadership skills while discovering the power of service. Rotary Youth Exchange (ages 15-19) offers students an international experience.
Programs
The Program Committee coordinates speakers who provide engaging and informative presentations that enhance the Rotary experience at weekly meetings. They also collaborate with sub-committees to arrange speakers on special events.
Sergeant/Past President
This committee is responsible for coordinating introductory presentations to kick off our Friday morning meetings. The presentations are short (5-8minutes), related to the speaker’s topic and keep the meetings fun!
Social Committee
The Social Committee plans four events, one per quarter, that are fun, creative, and engaging for Rotarians and guests. These events develop goodwill and better friendships among members.
Vocational Services
The Vocational Services Committee continues the Rotary tradition by hosting meetings at various member workplaces. The committee helps plan Founder’s Day off-site meetings and coordinates with the Programming Chair.
