Harry Smith is a retired American television journalist who spent 17 years anchoring CBS morning shows like CBS This Morning and The Early Show. He later joined NBC News as a senior correspondent and retired in 2024 after a distinguished 50-year career, returning to teach at Central College.

David Stark & Cole Coffin Overcoming Adversity Cole Coffin is a 26-year-old Des Moines, Iowa resident. He attended the University of Iowa and graduated with his bachelor’s degree in finance. Cole works for Holmes Murphy as a Property Casualty Client Executive since 2021. Cole’s family consists of Mom and Dad, Mary and Don, brothers, Chris and Atlias, sister, Caeli, fiancé’, Grace and dog best friend, Cooper. On top of Rotary, Cole is involved in Easterseals Iowa and the Iowa Adaptive Golf Association. When not working Cole enjoys, watching sports, vacations, golf, and music. David Stark is an Iowa native. Worked at UnityPoint Health since 1996,. He currently serves as the Foundation/Government Affairs Executive for UnityPoint Health and most recently served as President/CEO for UnityPoint Health - Des Moines. He received his undergraduate degree from Iowa State University in Management and his Master's in Healthcare Administration from the University of Iowa. Stark is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, serves on numerous local boards; been a member of DMAM for 25 years and is a graduate of the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute.
Small Business Administration's Efforts to Promote Business in America Small Business Administration's Efforts to Promote Businesses in America Brad Zaun is the Great Plains Regional Administrator serving Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska. He leverages over two decades of experience as a dedicated small business owner, community leader, and public servant. As former owner/operator of Zaun’s Trustworthy Hardware and vice president of R and R Realty Marketing Group, he gained direct insight into the complexities and needs of entrepreneurs. Mr. Zaun’s extensive public service includes terms on the City Council of Urbandale, Iowa, and as mayor from 1998 to 2004, followed by 20 years championing small businesses in the Iowa State Senate from 2005 to 2025.

In the wake of unscripted, life-altering events across the state, he has stood alongside law enforcement, victims, survivors, and community leaders. His experiences have reaffirmed relationships are the foundation of readiness.

Blank Park Zoo Anne Shimerdla has worked in a Zoo setting for the past 29 years. Over the years, she has gained experience in almost all Zoo departments. Anne received a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Ecology from Iowa State University and a Masters of Public Administration at Drake University. She started her career at the Blank Park Zoo before moving to Duluth, Minnesota where she was the Education Curator at the Lake Superior Zoo. For the past 24 years, she has worked at the Blank Park Zoo in various capacities. Starting as the Education Curator, her job has changed and increased scope over the years to include education, volunteers, guest services, operations revenue, animal care & health and human resources. On June 1, 2020, she was named the President and CEO. Anne lives in Urbandale with her husband of 24 years and their three children. She enjoys volunteering with kids’ sports activities, the school and church.
