CIVITAS WAS RECOGNIZED as one of six organizations on January 15th for outstanding work to combat human trafficking at a ceremony held at the Iowa State Capitol. The Iowa Network Against Human Trafficking and Slavery (NAHT) hosted the event along with the presentation of the signed proclamation by Gov. Kim Reynolds designating January 2025 as Slavery and Human Trafficking Month.
 
Civitas member Tamara Kenworthy accepted the award on behalf of the Greater Des Moines Rotary Multi-Club Committee and spoke about the accomplishments of this committee, comprised of 13 metro area Rotary club representatives, and the impact Rotary has had in combating this complicated issue. Additional DMAM members on the Civitas committee include Mike Lewis and MJ Meister.
