Campaign Update

David Young is a seventh-generation Iowan who was born, raised, and graduated from high school and college in the Third Congressional District. He served the district for two terms.

David graduated from Johnston high school, then attended his freshman year at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, and transferred to Drake University where he graduated. Shorty after graduation, David went to Washington, DC where he served for seven years as Chief of Staff for U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley.

In 2014, David was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives and was re-elected in 2016. He served on the Appropriations Committee for four years. He served on subcommittees including Agriculture; Transportation and Housing; Financial Services; and Homeland Security.  He has a 100% voting participation record.

In Congress, David authored the ‘No Veterans Crisis Line Call Should Go Unanswered Act’, and the ‘Rural Call Quality Act' which helps rural communities receive the same telecommunications services as Iowans in urban areas.  David authored the ‘Securing Our Agriculture and Food Act’ law that ensures that the Department of Homeland Security leads efforts in the bio-security of our nation’s agriculture, food, and veterinary systems against agro-terrorism and high-risk events.

David has a track record of getting results for Iowans and is ready to hit the ground running to continue his service to Iowans in the U.S. House of Representatives.
